Des Kelly was a legend. A man who displayed the brilliance of Houdini in balancing Family, Business, Sport, Charitable Endeavors and a hundred other things besides. But for Des the most important of all was Family.
He was devoted to Youlanda, and I had the privilege of visiting the Family home on many occasions for the Tea and the chat and the company and the camaraderie and the stories and the banter and the fun and warmth which permeated the Kelly Family Home. Des taught me many things, but the most important thing he taught me was that the love of and for your Family is the greatest gift we can receive. He is probably in Heaven, doing a deal with St Peter, on a few rolls of Navan Carpet, Fitted and Felted, and payable ''on the drip''!. We are all the lesser for his passing. So sorry to hear of Des Kelly passing, I worked for Des in the late 80s, I met Des and his wife in the Swans pub in Curragha many years later. He was very pleasant. Sadly missed. Condolences to his family.

So so so very very sorry to hear of your dad's passing. He was a great man. Thinking of you all now at this very very sad time.

I first met Des when I was a young Garda based at Mountjoy in the early 1980's. Des was always friendly, helpful and just an all round nice man. May he rest in peace.
