My deepest sympathy to Bernie & Family on the passing of Des. Fond memories of Des at the Prayer Meetings in the Adoration Convent many years ago. No doubt Des continued in his strong christian beliefs throughout his life and is now reaping the rewards of a life well lived in paradise with his Lord and Saviour.

We enjoyed a good number of years on holidays in Kilmore and looked forward each night to the get together in the famous Quigley pub. The last time we saw Des was two years ago when we called in. He was a true gentleman and had a welcome for everybody.

We always enjoyed his company, and his cheerful presence was always a help to us in our working day. I had known Des when he was in Peters while he was on the “Far Side”, and he was a good and gentle friend to so many of us young students during a time of great trauma. His gentle nature was so Christian and kind, and I will never forget it. We obviously were aware that Des has been so unwell over the last few years. but he kept that kind gentle demeanour throughout that difficult time. On behalf oof us all, I would pass on our deep condolences to all of Des’s family and friends. May he Rest in Peace.
