Liebe Agnes, wir waren sehr überrascht und sehr traurig von Des Tod zu hören. Herzliches Beileid Dir und Deiner Familie. Wir sind dankbar, dass wir an der online-Beerdigung teilnehmen konnten. Wir haben uns immer gefreut Euch zu sehen und hatten lustige Begegnungen.(z.B. Singen irischer Volkslieder beim Grieche) Auch bleibt uns unser Besuch bei Euch in guter Erinnerung. Wir sind in Gedanken bei Dir.

Des was definitely my best friend for over 55 years since we met in the Isle of Man in the early sixties,
and he was regarded as a member of our family. He was best man twice for me and I for him also. Regardless
how long a pause was, whenever we talked at the phone, the feeling was that we had done so the day before.
This has not happened with anybody else.

Apart from our interest in motorcycling - I remember more than one Vintage Rally through Ireland - the other
common interest was flying. We loved flying with him along a stretch of the west coast in his beloved Cessna
and look down to the region we had driven through the week before.

It is very sad, that we cannot come over due to the actual restrictions. Our thoughts go to his wife Agnes
and to the whole family, we will never forget this very special person. May he rest in peace.

Deepest sympathy at the passing of Des, we have such lovely memories of times spent together with Paddy, Carmel and Des all those years ago.

So very sad to hear that Des is no longer with us. Des was a very good friend of our neighbour in Germany. That’s how we met Des and Agnes, on one of their many visits to Wixhausen. Des was so friendly and outgoing and it was always a pleasure to meet up and listen to all his interesting stories. Also had great fun visiting Des and Agnes at their house in Dublin.
Dear Agnes and family, we are so sorry for your loss! Des was a real character, a very lovely man who will be greatly missed by his friends in Germany too!

How sad I am to hear of Des's passing. Our paths crossed over the years at various Motorsport events and he always had time for a chat. Another one of the good guys who has gone ahead to organise the events on the other side. Rest in Peace Des.
