Sincere condolences to the Fitzgerald family on the sad passing of Des. I met Tom at Foxrock Golf Club some weeks ago and discovered he was Des's son. I am from Tramore and grew up with the Fitzgerald family Michael was my vintage. I remember when Des played for Tramore Cricket Club,even then he was a talented sportsman,games came easily for him. May his gentle soul rest in peace

Very sorry to hear of Des's passing. I played many games of golf with him in the Waterpark Golf Society. He was a great man to travel to all our outings. A real gent.

I met des over 50 years ago as a very good customer of bank of Ireland college Green where I worked.He was proud of his routes a Waterford man always .He was always proud his playing days at Bective rangers a keen tennis player in Sandycove tennis club and of course his golf club killiney where he was a competitive golfer a table tennis player for a while and snooker player where he enjoyed his Thursday nights .
He was a devoted husband to Lily a great father and adored his grand children.I neater heard him use bad language he was always in good form and loved telling stories.
A life well lived .he will be missed .rest in peace des it was a pleasure knowing you

Many happy memories centred on Sandycove Tennis Club with Des on and off court, invariably shared with his no. 1 fan Lily on the balcony puffing on a cigarette. Occasionally Lily would make a foray on court playing mixed doubles with Des, who would frquently instruct « Leave it Lil- !

Sending all the Fitzgerald extended family my condolences. Des introduced me to golf at Killiney - a more enthusiastic promoter of the Junior Wednesday competitions you could not find - quick to laugh and always so welcoming. Such a nice man and also the inspiration to me carrying my golf bag on my shoulder to this day! Thank you Des for the great memories. May he Rest in Peace.
