My deepest condolences to all of Des's family and loved ones. I knew Des from going to Father Jim's mass on Mondays in the convent chapel in the Diseart. His gentle presence, reverence and pride in the beauty of his surroundings was always very evident. He was so unassuming yet I always learned something from any conversation with him. Dear Ruth and Barry, We were very saddened to hear the news of the death of your beloved father, Des.
We send you and all your families our deepest sympathies and sincere condolences.
Our history with your parents goes back a long way. I, Mary( McDermott) and your late mother, Luarena, were colleagues together when the new school opened in Walkinstown in 1958.
We were also members in the early days of the Teachers' Study Group. Paddy also knew Luarena in the TSG before he left for Kilkenny in 1966.
We both attended your parent's wedding reception in Dublin 52/53 years ago.
After your mother's death we continued our contacts with Des - cards, texts and phone calls. We will miss his warm friendship.
