What a lovely, witty and funny man Des was. When I first came to Ireland and started working in Ardkeen Des spent so much time explaining, very patiently, the rules of hurling to me. He would always have a great story to tell and would always make you laugh. Sincere condolences to his family, he always spoke so fondly of them.

I am so sorry to read of the passing of Dessie. Fond memories of Dessie from secondary school in Mount Sion and in later years in Ardkeen Stores. He was an absolute gentleman and such a pleasure to meet. My sincerest condolences to all of his family and may his noble soul rest in peace. I am sorry that I will be away next week and unable to attend his funeral.
