I am deeply saddened at the passing of Dr. Desmond Morris and send my most sincere condolences and those of my wife, son and daughter to his family and friends at this time of loss. As a boy, Dr. Morris’s programmes on television and in particular ‘Zoo Time’ encouraged my passionate love for animals and birds and respect for all living creatures which has never wavered. If ever a life was well lived and totally worthwhile, it is the life of Dr. Morris. I even remember vividly the Desert Island Discs broadcast in which he was featured. I was just a small boy at the time, but his choice of music reflected the really lovely person that he was. My warmest thoughts are with you all at this very sad time.

I had the pleasure of meeting him and he signed a copy of his autobiography for me to give to my dad, my dad had read the naked ape when he was student in college and had been a big fan of him and his work since. He was an extraordinary man who truly lived, with a lifetime of achievements and talents. He will never be forgotten nor his impact to the world and the impact on all of you.

I am deeply saddened to say goodbye to Desmond... a genius artist, writer, traveller, scientist, presenter, storyteller & charmer. Fortunately, Desmond brought all his charms to Ireland for his last years. His paintings are jewels and treasures and radiate on and on.
