My heartfelt condolences & sympathy to Reenie Diarmuid Barra Orla Fachtna Cliona Moirin .. your dad was a brilliant headmaster and of course a great family friend too to my mam & dad .. & thank you to Reenie / Barra for coming to my dads funeral also .

Deepest sympathy to Catherine, your family, grandchildren and to the extended family on your very sad loss of Diarmaid /Jerry RIP.

Jerry organised courses for us teachers to develop entrepreneurial skills among our students, some of whom would be looking to go into the workplace rather than pursue the academic route. A one week course in St. Augustine's Dungarvan during the mid 1980's, brought about a new dimension to our teaching skills. Typical of Jerry, his inovation at the time helped to create a new mindset to pass onto our students
- to be creative, inventive, self employed.....in short, they were prepared for the future and "The Celtic Tiger", in the 1990's.

The fact that we were both from Castlehaven and known through our families, we developed a strong friendship.

Remembering the late Jerry and all of you in my prayers + the great memories of a wonderful person and of his major contribution to 2nd level education.

I’m so sorry to hear of your father’s death: we only met him once, looking for tickets for the Match!! So Diarmuid, Barra, Mary, Annie , Katie and Oisin and all the O’Donnabhains, who are related to Brendan O’Donovan on the MacDonnell side ironically, we are seeing wonderful tributes to your father from everyone which is lovely. Sincere condolences to all the O’ Donnabhain family on the passing of Diarmuid. I worked with Diarmuid in UL a number of years ago, he was a gentleman and we shared many a funny road trip on the highways and byways of Cork and Kerry. May he rest in peace.

May Diarmuid Rest in Peace. Remember him as as inspiring educator. Last time I met him was in Clonakilty Community College when he came to inspect trainee teacher. That teacher never forgets the mentoring and advice he got from Diarmuid. I chatted with Diarmuid over cup of tea after his inspection work was done. He was so affirming of our work in the entire school setting. I never forget his kindness, positivity, helpfulness and motivational words of wisdom.
Those of us who interacted with him were the better for it.
God Rest his soul.
