Mrs. Carey (Dina) and my Mam (Ethel) grew up a few doors away from each other in Blackrock so they were amazed to find they were neighbours again on Cedarwood Road as newly married women. Both couples loved music and ballroom-dancing in the 50s and becoming parents in the 60s so it was no surprise when the first baby David went on to become the local DJ just as Bono down the road was becoming well-known too. There was a lot of life and laughter growing up on the road with all the other families too and not forgetting our dogs Monty and Sandy. Years later, when I came back home to care for my elderly parents, Dina was particularly kind and supportive to me esp. during Covid and after each of my parent's funerals. We shared faith in love of Jesus to carry us through difficult years and promised to pray for each other's families. Dina always had a lovely smile and I will treasure the memory of our last chat after her birthday on a golden day in October when she proudly told me she still had all her own teeth! Her ten children were all wonderful to her esp. in those last difficult six months of her life and I will miss her very much too.
