May I pass on my sympathies to Dinny family.
I was a pupil of the Rory O'Connor School of Dancing and knew Dinny very well.
Many a time in the past, during my competitive dancing days, Dinny looked favourably in the Feis results.
I was one of the Irish dancers who did a tour of Boston in the mid./late 1970s where Dinny was part of the group.

To Annie and Bridget, my sincere condolences to you, and all the Mc Laughlin family, on your immense loss.
Dinny instilled his love of traditional music and dance to generations with a passion and patience to all who were fortunate enough to have him as their mentor.
In our home many times, he became a good friend of my mother and played by her graveside as she was buried. May the thoughts and prayers of all of us who knew him, now give you some comfort at this sad time.

Sincere condolences to Dinny’s family and relatives. He was a great promoter of traditional music and dance. Donegal is proud of him. We loved his music and our children really enjoyed him too. He is on High in the eternal orchestra. Suaimhneas síorraí dó.
I’d like to pass on my condolences to Dinny’s family and friends as he will be sorely missed. Thinking of him brings back for me fond memories of his Irish dancing classes in the Colgan Hall in the 1960s and 70s. Dinny played the fiddle or the piano and danced at the same time. The biscuit tin went round and we chipped in 10p each. He was great fun and it was the highlight of our week. I don’t think we appreciated then how privileged we were to have him as a teacher and a living link to our rich musical heritage in Inishowen, but we know it now. Solas na bhflaitheas do. Codladh i measc na naomh.

An inspiration to generations of musicians, Dinny will be greatly missed.
We are very sorry to hear about Dinny's passing. While unfortunately I never got to have a tune with him, it would have been lovely to hear stories about John Doherty who was our grand uncle but possibly about our Grandfather Simon (Ballinamore) Dinny was an integral part in the preservation of Donegal music. Rest in peace Dinny, music will be heard in the skies tonight.
