She was an outstanding lady who was way ahead of her time. She used her gifts to the betterment of many in the ESB in many roles. Her achievement in setting up the wonderful Museum which no 29 became was one of her later innovations enjoyed by many Dubliners, not to mention the many staff and ex staff to whom she introduced her values of heritage and of representing the best in everything she undertook. May she rest in peace.

My condolences to Delo's family and friends. Delo was a good friend of my parents Jack and May(rip). I really enjoyed her company and her singing at our home. Delo was a very interesting and interested woman,strong and inspiring. I was very sad to hear of her passing. Her memory will live on in many hearts.

So sorry to hear of Delo's passing. I worked closely with her over many years in ESB and saw at close hand the courage, integrity and enthusiasm she brought to every task she undertook. I think particularly of her involvement in ESBOA (including President) and House 29 as Manager. In addition she had a generous, encouraging personality and she helped many( particularly young people) along the way. She left a mark and will be remembered with gratitude and affection.

We extend our sympathy to Helen, PJ and Delo’s nephews and nieces on her passing. We got to know Delo through The Claregalway Festival of Drama and remained friends thereafter.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dolores (Delo) Collier, a founder member of Galway Civic Trust in 1993 and a long-serving Board member.

Delo’s commitment, warmth and belief in Galway’s heritage helped shape the Trust from its earliest days. She will be remembered with great respect and gratitude.

Delo has been a wonderful friend for over 40 yrs. She was always engaged in activities supporting others. She particularly loved supporting young people find their way in life through music incl Finghin Collins & Sophie Cashell. She loved her involvement in Galway Civic Trust, Music for Galway & Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann.
She was an inspiration in her determination to get results for others. But most of all she was a kind & special friend who will be sadly missed. Sincerest sympathies to Helen & Mullally & Collier families.

I got to know Dello through various collaborations between Áras na nGael in Galway and the Galway Civic Trust, in particular through various employment schemes and through many many meetings.
I think Delo was one of the most selfless and community driven people that I have been lucky enough to meet. She believed in community and in the concept of good citizenship and in taking personal responsibility for the betterment of the community rather than staying on the sidelines or just walking away.
She was a redoubtable woman, steadfast and unstinting in her advocacy work, but a woman with a great sense of humour and a mischievous twinkle in her eye when it suited.

After her distinguished career in the ESB, she made a big contribution to Galway, especialy with her work for the Civic Trust and the Galway Archaeological and Historical Society, serving for many years as its treasurer. Delo was a very close friend of my parents Tom and Marion Curran RIP and I fondly remember happy times with her throughout my childhood. I remember the Corrib Folk practicing their set and singing in the Great Southern Hotel in Galway. I got to know her well over the years when popping in to visit while my mum was caring for her. She was a very strong, kind, and intelligent woman and fought through her battle with Parkinson’s with such compassion and bravery.

I will look back fondly on my memories with her.

Condolences to all of Delo’s family on her death. She was such an interesting neighbour to chat with and we all had great fun at the Drama Festival nights over the years. It was such a thoughtful gesture to donate her remains to Anatomy. May Delo now have eternal peace.
