To suddenly hear of Don’s passing saddened me deeply. As a younger Engineering colleague in Bolton Street though we hadn’t worked closely together, I always felt fortunate and proud to have known Don. He combined gentleness, self-assurance, integrity, wisdom and good humour so elegantly and appealingly. His wonderful rhythmic way to tell a good humoured story remains with me too.

Sincere condolences to Helena and family. A close friend and an esteemed colleague. Many years were spent together in Bolton St. and his innovation, dedication and good humour were hallmarks of this fine engineer. His endless stories were so endearing that I and my colleagues were deeply fond of Don.
So sorry to hear of Dons passing . I was lucky to be one of his students in Bolton Street .Don was a pioneer in the modernist teaching of the art and science of building engineering. He has left behind a marvellous legacy for our industry and for the education of engineers.

I played tennis with Don for many years on Sunday morning in Claremont Railway. He was also a member of Evergreens and I enjoyed his company in Mallorca for a number of years. He was very clever and his sense of humor was second to none.

Don was a colleague and friend for over thirty years in DIT, Bolton St. He started the Building Services courses virtually single handed and he also made a huge contribution to the overall work of the Engineering department in a variety of roles.
He had a great sense of humour and his talent as a story teller was unrivalled. May he Rest in Peace.

Very sad to hear of Don's death. He was always good company during his years with us at Bolton Street, both at work and at leisure - he brought his hockey skills to the golf course - which we greatly enjoyed. My sympathies to all his family. May he rest in peace.

Thank you, Helena and Clare. I am so sorry to hear of Don's passing. I remember him over many years, in Bolton St, playing Squash on a Sunday morning, going to Dinners and Lunches. We knew each other for about 40 years, and he was always a pleasure to be with.

I am so sorry to hear that Don has passed away. I have lovely memories of enthusiastic tennis games in Railway Union and his great work on the Evergreens Committee including coach trips on the annual holiday in Majorca. A gentle, talented, unassuming gentleman who will be missed by many. May his gentle soul RIP.
