Whenever we met him as kids, Don brought playfulness, curiosity, creativity, travelled learning and a sense of the possible - such gifts to young minds. He and Margaret, in their beautiful gentle voices, radiated warmth and giving - we loved when they visited, and when we visited their amazing family home in Monkstown. They were great lifelong friends to my Mum, Ann. She will miss Don now. RIP. Condolences to Judith, Martin, Brigid, Nicky, Isobel and family.
Sincere sympathy to the Henihan family on the passing of Don
To all the Henihan family,
Please accept our deepest sympathy for your loss of Don. He was such a wonderful person and will be so missed. I know that you will have great memories to sustain you, but it is hard for you to lose such a father and friend.
I am so glad that my family and I were able to see Don many times in Dublin, Italy and Melbourne. We were so grateful for his warm hospitality in Dublin and Italy. We were so lucky that he showed us such interesting places and told us fascinating stories and Irish history. We loved it all. Don was a great tour leader of us Australians and others in 2001 around Ireland.
Don was a delightful visitor to our home and to many of the family in Australia. We were delighted to see his artworks and to receive one from him, which is in one of our main rooms. He was such a warm friend and so good to talk with at length. Richard and I loved discussing the world of ideas and literature with him and hearing snippets of his life and early memories. Our son, Andrew and our daughter, Laura loved talking with Don in Dublin and in Melbourne. We were all impressed to see his career achievements and his happiness with Margaret and with all of you. He was so proud of all his children and grandchildren.
He will be much missed and so fondly remembered by all of us on this side of the world.
We send you our condolences and our love,
Anne, Richard, Andrew, and Laura.
(Anne is a great granddaughter of Ellen Baggott.)

Condolences to the Henihan family on behalf of Camino Society Ireland.
Don walked his first Camino in 1991. On his return, he had the vision to establish the Irish Society of the Friends of St.James, of which he was the first Chairperson. This has evolved to become the Camino Society Ireland clg which has grown significantly over the years. It issues passports and provides advice and support to thousands of pilgrims each year. Don has left us a lasting legacy.

Condolences to Isobel and all the Henihan family on the passing of their beloved Dad Don. I had three formative years from 1980 working in the office on the Hill. It was a busy and happy family place with Margaret and the children nearby. My daughter Brigid started Montessori with Isobel in 1982. Don was a talented architect and fulfilled in his work, his garden, his travels and a creative life. May he rest in peace.

I had some fleeting contacts with Don in his office c1980, where my girlfriend worked. He was a lovely man and a very fine architect of churches and social housing. He also ran - and I thought this so admirable - a very homely and talented office of really nice people. Condolences to the family. I remember they all doted then over Isobel, their tiny tot.
