I had the pleasure of meeting Donagh while I was a patient in StJames Hospital back in June, he got me through the worst nights that I spent there, mine was a short stay thank God, I know that poor Aule Donagh more or less ran the place because he was there for so much time over the years, we shared cigarettes 🚬 and stories of our lives and he was so proud of his daughter, he told me that he woke up one day and she was there sitting on the chair in his room, like an apparition 😇 he was so happy to have seen her, he told me stories about his youth when his mother wouldn’t allow him join a boxing 🥊 club but his father did and how his dad kept the trophies 🏆 that he won in the boot of his car so the mother wouldn’t know. I usually would call up to see Donagh when I had an outpatient appointment and today was my last one and I went up to st Joseph’s to call in and say hi and thank you once again for the laughs, but alas Donagh wasn’t in the system, he had shared with me that he had a terminal illness so I understood what had happened 😢 so I’m here now to say goodbye and to thank Donagh for cheering me up when I was ill and for the comfort that his stories gave me at night we’d meet up for a smoke and a chat because we couldn’t sleep 🛌 rest in eternal peace now Donagh, I hope you are up there chatting the ears off God and laughing in heaven now 🙏🏻 you had such a kind heart ❤️ and I appreciate your kindness towards me only a few months ago.
