Dear Marcia and family, I sat with Donagh for 8 years on NUI Galway Governing Authority and we were on various sub-committees together over those years. He was great fun while taking his role very seriously, in equal measure. Himself and John Mulholland were always laughing about something! I can honestly say I learned a lot from him over that time. He will be very greatly missed.

Comhbhrón ó chroí leat, Marcia agus led' chlann. I was very shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden death of Donagh. He was a constant source of support to me during my period of office as President of NUI Galway. HIs support included committed participation in the deliberations of Údarás na hOllscoile (University Governing Authority), and possibly more importantly for me, his personal guidance and advice. He also, or course, made many other contributions to the University, not least his significant philanthropic support for the O'Donoghue Centre for Drama. His was a life-long commitment to his Alma Mater, and it will always be remembered. He will be missed by many, but particularly of course by you Marcia, and his family. Our heartfelt sympathy to all of you. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uaslal.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Donagh’s untimely death. I know what a major void this will leave in your life. The two of you were such a brilliant partnership.
