He was a valued member of the Board of Management of St.Olaf’s National School,
Balally and his contributions were always focussed and his insights were invaluable
when important decisions were discussed and decided upon.

A great raconteur, he always had great anecdotes and interesting stories to add to

Donal you where a one of a kind gentleman, who worked so hard all your life to take care of your family, you where the perfect father figure and a loving husband to Betty, amazing grandad to your grandchildren. I had many great conversations with you over a 27 year period and im proud to say i enjoyed your company on many occassions over those years. You fought a long and hard illness for many years and had the strenght to keep fighting until the end.
You are back where you belong now with your loving wife Betty mother and grandmother to our children.

You will be sadly missed by your children, grandchildren and all your friends of The Balally Parish where you offered your services for as long as i remember.

I looked up to you as i was growing up because there a very little men in this world that could conpare to the man that you were.

Thank you for all the years of help and love you showed Jan and our children.

You will never be forgotten and always in our hearts and minds.

My sincere sympathy to the Byrne family on the death of your dear Father Donal. I have known Donal for many years and he recalled his youth in Rathmines to me on occasions. He also described his working life as a machinist and the specialist work he was trained in, making parts for cars and other mechanical engineering projects. Donal was a gentleman who although aware of the world managed to preserve a complete innocence in the midst of the world. It was a great pleasure to have known Donal. He possessed everything that was beautiful and noble in a man. We have all lost a great parishioner and a huge supporter of the community. May your gentle soul rest in peace.
Sincere sympathies to the Byrne family on the sad passing of Donal. May he rest in peace.
