My deepest condolences to Dan's family. I liked to call Dan Danny Donny. He didn't mind. We were next door neighbors in Jackson Heights. He was a frequent fixture outside when the weather was nice. We especially got to know each other when my wife and I were planning to go to Ireland in 2014 to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. So we discussed our plans and stories afterwards. He always would ask me how my other half was doing, so warm and friendly... and open minded too.

At his farewell party I sang Danny Boy to him, and he was very touched asI I was very moved to sing it to him. I didn't want to sing the second verse as it invokes death but he made me carry on. A neighbor took a video on his phone. I have tried to get it from him, and so far no luck. But I have the memory.

Thank you, Danny Donny, for being a lovely neighbor and a thoughtful friend. Rest in peace

I worked with Danny in EI Cargo JFK for many years. We always kept intouch throughout the years. Danny was good friend a kind person, and a true gentleman

Rest in peace Dan. You welcomed us as your New York neighbors 21 years ago and you have been an important part of our lives ever since. Steve and you were like funny warm grandfathers to Katia and Loïe from their birth, always joking around with them as they grew up, you sitting on the wall shooting the breeze. Your 90th Birthday with your friends and neighbors in our beautiful back garden was a really meaningful and memorable day, Boxing Day over at Aideen and John's, our chats about football, and of course many chats about Ireland. We loved you Dan but we never doubted that it was the right thing for you to go back home. Your friends here made that possible and you are missed. RIP

Dan was a wonderful neighbor and friend for nearly two decades, I always looked forward to our chats on the ledge outside of Linden Court. I know he will be missed in our community, and I send my condolences to his family and friends.

Dan was our neighbour across the hall in Jackson Heights. He was great company, a font of knowledge on the history of the GAA particularly kildare. He joined us for many a rugby and gaelic match and was a regular at our dinner table and celebrations. We are so happy he was with family for these last months. He is fondly remembered by our community in Linden Court, Jackson heights.

Deepest sympathies to Donal, Dan's brothers and family. Dan was a friend of old, from Kilcock to New York where Dan was a great neighbour and great friend to myself and Larry. A friendship which lasted after we returned home with calls from New York every 2 weeks up until recently. Rest in peace, Dan.

I worked in Irish Airlines Cargo in 1969 -71 , and was privileged to meet and work with Danny ,I was a vulnerable and impressionable 19 year old just off the plane , and Danny was so friendly and kind to me , We both played soccer for the Irish Airlines team. , and Danny was one great goalkeeper who always covered up for my mistakes in front of him .Ursula was often at our matches , and clearly a great supporter of Danny ( and the team !) . Wonderful memories for me .

I regret not keeping in touch , and offer my condolences to all of Danny’s family at this time ,
