My dear Harrington family... I am very sorry for your loss..Donal (RIP) was an icon and a man of great wit and charm. I drove a carload from the Bronx to Donal's brother Michael's (RIP) wake in Queens NY many years ago. Florry drove a minibus full of Harringtons from all over to the world to the wake. Donal patiently waited for my father Tim Kelly Pullincha (RIP) to arrive and the two of them after expressing condolences on Muchael's passing had "the craic". Well Tim he said you always had plenty gray matter...not as gray as yours Donal to which I responded and neither of you as gray as Mary's they both chuckled. Dad would have been 95 he always reminded Donal that Donal was the old man at six months older than him. Dad and Donal took some kind of math class together at the tech - probably night school before Dad enlisted in the army.. and I am sure the "craic was mighty." They just don't make them like Michael, or Donal or my Dad Tim Kelly anymore...with love and sympathy, Debbie Kelly
My deepest sympathy to the family on the passing of a wonderful person & character. May the Lord grant his soul eternal rest.
I have no words to express my heartbreak to hear of the passing of my friend. A great man.
Rest In Peace
My deepest sympathies to you all. He was a wonderful man and will sorely missed. You were all so wonderful to me when I was losing Padraig. You're all in my thoughts and prayers.
May Donal rest in peace. Sincere sympathy. Sheila mc nally
A very special family man who made a hard-earned living in the back-of-beyonds which he loved and served so well. Donal had a phenomenal memory, closely matching that of his beloved wife Mary, and he could recite easily poems he had learned as far back as Primary School in both Irish and English. He would admit himself that he hadn't the greatest singing voice, but he could recite all the words of the great songs. His love of all sports, especially his service to Gaelic football in the Beara Peninsula endeared him to many. He was a fine footballer too in his day, where I saw him field the high ones in the small field in Kilmacowen by the north bank of the Pulincha river. His insightful conversations on any topic will be sadly missed.
