Very sad to hear Donal,s passing
We where in primary school together I remember the teacher trying to get him to hold the pencil properly I thought the teacher should leave him alone as his writing was better than mine
years later at the post office counter he was still writing the same doing a very good job helping people .

I went to the post office today only to discover it was closed.I was shocked to hear Donal had died.My brother died in June and I had to get a lot of documents verified.Donal showed great sensitivity while doing this.He will be sorely missed in the village.

Donal was the kindest guy we ever had the pleasure of knowing,he'd go above and beyond for anyone. He would never leave funderland until he'd won a teddy for each and every kid,no one was ever left out when Donal was around,he made sure of that. On behalf of all of us at Cosy Corner sincere condolences to Aoife and family. We pray that happy memories will sustain you all at this sad time.

I am quite a bit younger than Dotsy but am privileged to have known him all my life through his friendship with my brothers Niall and Turlough. It was only when I was 11 or 12 that I became aware that his actual name was Donal!!! (sorry Dots!) My memories of him as a very young child were that he always had a warm smile on his face and was always cheerful when he called over to our house!

I got to know Donal a lot better in my 20s and I met Aoife. I became victim on many occasions to his cutting humor on many nights out! He was generous to a fault and full of love. I remember one particular Christmas Eve, Donal drove into town to collect me as I was finishing work and there were no buses and he wanted to ensure that I could get home! It was such warm kind gesture and very much the epitome of what he was- just bloody kind! I have no doubt he has instilled those qualities in Ciara, Lucie and Liam.

I suppose we kind of drifted in recent times as I became a Dad myself and priorities shifted from the 108 to nappies! However, when we would bump into each other it was like the gap in time disappeared. Donal was kind, generous to a fault and he is sorely missed. Much love to Aoife and family always
