Our deepest sympathies on the sad passing of Donal. He always had time to stop and talk when out walking the dogs. A lovely man and a neighbour that will be truely missed.

I am very sorry to hear of Donal’s passing, please accept my condolences. Donal and I first met in Belvedere College many years ago wearing grey jumpers and short trousers! Donal was always in school and after very friendly and easy to talk with. His easy going nature will be missed.

Donal

Donal stepped into our lives two years ago and at that time it felt like a comforting rainbow had arrived for my eldery father.

Someone solid, gentle, giving.
Someone who saw important things like the continous routine of life that must muster through the enormous complex and often unrewarded umbrella of care.

Donal cared.

He went over and beyond, he saw tiny things that could knit a situation better and then would gently suggest..
As if to make out, I'd just forgotten.
How deeply thoughtful he always was.

He put my father first, middle and last.. And would always say to me.. "what does Christy think?", before we'd go any further.

He'd remind me through his actions that caring for an eldery parent is the most treasured position to be in.
And through his steadfast loyalty everything is possible when you put family first. .

Donal strengthen me as my fathers carer, as he became the elder brother I'd lost so many years ago.. But more importantly he became my father's best and trusted friend.

When we were unsure of what to do..
My father would say.. Let's ask Donal or we'd both say ... "What does Donal think?"

He was our unexpected gift.
Our miracle, our sounding board.. And gave my father a lifetime of commitment and love in just two wonderful years.
