Very sorry to hear of Donal's passing. He was a close colleague of mine and a friend. I will miss him at the Custom House get togethers.

Our deepest sympathies to Donal’s family on his passing. We have watched the lovely funeral service and can see he was dearly loved and will be sorely missed. Donal reached a wonderful age and you will all have many happy memories of him to carry you through the sad times ahead. We will miss his annual Christmas card and family news of our Irish cousins. Rest in peace, Donal. (Son of Donal’s cousin Kathleen Smith, nee Duncan).

Sincere sympathy to Dan, Eleanor, Tim, Mary and Seán on your great loss. Donal was a giver, highly dependable and deeply devoted to his wife, Barbara and the family.
Many happy memories of a gaggle of us, nieces and nephews, going wild on summer holidays in their home at the foot of the Curlews in 1959 and '60. The same traditional open-door hospitality when they moved to Blackrock, where everyone was welcome at their table, with much humour and fun.
He has joined his loved ones who have gone before him in Heaven.
