Such a lovely, inspiring young man. I only knew of him from TV and from reading about him.
I really don't know if I should pray for him or pray to him for he is surely in Heaven.

Condolences to all Donal's family. He was an inspiring young man and has left an indelible impression on so many people. He will be long remembered.

Don't think of him as gone away
his journey's just begun,
life holds so many facets
this earth is only one.

Just think of him as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.

Think how he must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.

And think of him as living
in the hearts of those he touched...
for nothing loved is ever lost
and he was loved so much.

Deepest sympathy to the Walsh family. Donal was a remarkable young man and certainly made his mark during his short life. His articles and interview with Brendan O'Connor were remarkable.

"It's not about the years in your life but the life in your years" this was true in Donal's case and there was certainly life in his 16 short years on this planet. Donal, you will never be forgotten for your maturity and strength, a breath of fresh air... You have inspired me, Tralee, Kerry, Ireland and so much further afield. I'm as proud as any person to say a boy of your calibre was from Kerry. You're at God's gates now Donal and he's rolling out the red carpet for you. My thoughts are with all of those dear to you. I would like to express my condolences to Donal's family, his Mam,Dad & sister. I did not know him only what I have seen of him on TV and read but you should be so proud of him. I never met your son and living in the UK I didn't know much of his battle with cancer until I heard of his death. He was truly an angel and seems to have been dedicated to make a change that few ever dream of doing. My thoughts and prayers go out to you as a family, may you find the strengtht to live without him.

I recently lost my mother feb 21st age 60 to cancer. I saw donal on tv and he was an inspiration. What a fine young man. My heart and thoughts are with all the family and friends. He seemed a lovely person and I pray that he is free from all his pain an suffering just like my wonderful mum, both in a better place. I hope you find the strength to cope and get through as a family. Donal died on my birthday and I was always recall him on may 12th. Best wishes to you all.

I saw your brave and beautiful son on RTE. He was amazng and touched my heart. My sincere sympathy to you his parents and sister and extended family. I hope you get the strength and help to cope with the loss, but know your lovely Donal may have changed the lives of many people . He spoke to every teenager unselfishly in the midst of his own pain. How brave, you can be so proud of him. He was one in a million and his brilliance will shine on forever.

You were inspirational. I think you always will be to me. Our paths crossed purely accidentally as I am never in on a Saturday night. I saw you on Brendan O'Connor's show. You made me cry. I cried for your selflessness, for my guilt at not being so naturally inclined, your interest in troubled souls and your encouragement about there always being light around the corner. I spoke about you to friends; it was, to me like Angels surrounded you. I don't have any experience of Angels but you were how I would imagine them to be. You were peaceful. I cried for you today too. That I probably will never hear another like you again is sad. However, for even having heard you at all or reading your words make me grateful that I accidentally bumped into you. Albeit, if your time was brief. You made it matter. Most people don't achieve or aspire to what you have done in a lifetime. You achieved loads and you made a difference. God bless you and thank you. You and your family are in my prayers.
