I spent a season on Iolaire in the Caribbean working for Don, it was amazing to see how well known and respected he was from Grenada to St Thomas, once people saw the red hull they knew Don was in the harbour. From his yacht brokerage, his Cruising Guides and his maps everyone love and enjoyed to spend time in his company. Many happy memories.

Don was our great sailor but also very giving of his expertise and tools to keep the older wooden dragons going especially. He developed the sailing and seamanship skills of our young teenage sailors and his cry of "Mark, bring me the bee's wax" was a common refrain of his on the pier in years gone by when fixing something. He was a tough competitor on the race course and will be sorely missed. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dilís.
