My deepest sympathy to Doreen's beloved Rory and David, her devoted sisters and brother, and all her extended family and friends.
I have so many lovely memories of my dear friend and count myself lucky to have had her in my life for so long - a friendship that endured the separation of oceans. Her finely tuned sense of fairness and social justice, and her genuine warmth and kindness, made her such a special person to be around.
I’ll carry memories of her dancer’s grace, her megawatt smile, and her beautiful spirit with me, always. May she rest in peace.

David, Rory, Chris and Doreen's sisters, Sincere condolences, Mary & I met Doreen when we moved to New York in 1994 , she showed us the ropes as she was a seasoned New Yorker by that time, always jovial, heart of gold, always inclusive. Unfortunately we lost contact when we moved back to Ireland but we have great memories of her and her lovely smile.

David, Rory and all the Deignan Clan please accept my deepest sympathy on the death of your beloved partner, mother and sister. She was one in a million and it’s hard to find adequate words to express my sorrow at the passing of my beautiful, kind, caring, courageous and loyal friend. I will carry her in my heart always. So sorry to hear about Doreen. She was a beautiful person. We studied in Rathmines together and kept in touch on facebook. I loved her annual Halloween photos with Rory and David. She was a true idealist and had a great social conscience Best wishes from Anne & family in Sydney.

I have many fond memories of nights out in Dublin with Doreen, Catherine (who she has now joined) and Declan in the late 80's where she took centre stage with her dance moves. Catching up with her in NYC when I was there for a few years in the early 90's.

Thinking of the family at this difficult time. I knew Doreen for years in NY, we had so many laughs and fun, she used to impress us all with her dance moves, but her smile and laugh were even more impressive.She was a beautiful caring person, inside and out, Im sure she left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Sincere condolences to all her family. May she rest in peace.

Doreen was my dear, dear sister. She was many, many things; a devoted mother to Rory, a loving partner to David, a steadfast and true friend, an ever supportive sister and just herself. She was a fun loving, brave, caring, kind, no-nonsense New Yorker who showed extraordinary grace and courage when faced with life's greatest challenges. She will always live on in our hearts.
