Sincere condolences to Cian, Brian, John, Barry and the extended Quinlan family on the passing of Dorothy, their beloved mother and sister. Dorothy enjoyed a rich and varied life in Schull since her arrival in the 80's. The Quinlan family have contributed enormously to the Schull community both professionally and personally over the past 5 decades. Their legacy lives on fortunately. With deepest sympathy to Dorothy’s family and friends. I had the pleasure of working alongside Dorothy several years ago when she was the Occupational Therapy Manager in West Cork. Dorothy was a great colleague- she was kind competent, caring and full of energy and fun. I am sorry to be unable to attend her funeral. Rest in Peace Dorothy-I often recall some of the great stories and gems of wisdom you shared with me.

I was so saddened to hear of the passing of cousin Dor. So many memories were evoked from Church Road and Fountainstown so long ago and so far away.

It is with great sadness that we hear of the passing of club member Dorothy Quinlan. Dorothy played a large part in club activities from her early days hosting many club events in the fondly remembered East End Hotel. She began her sailing career crewing on a variety of boats with Paul Murray, before acquiring Quinsea and Capella with brothers Barry and the late Denis, which they raced with considerable success in the club over the years.Dorothy's interest in sailing continued during her stay in Schull Community Hospital where she was able to watch the weekend club sailing activities through the summer months.

"I am standing on the sea shore, a ship sails in the morning breeze and starts for the ocean. She is an object of beauty and I stand watching her till at last she fades on the horizon and someone at my side says: “She is gone.” Gone! Where? Gone from my sight—that is all."
