I was very shocked and sad to hear of Doug’s recent passing. Sincere sympathy to Victoria, James, Nuala and all of the extended family. Doug was a vibrant and kind person who took great pride in his children and his work and he was happy to help people In any way he could. May he rest in peace.

My sincere condolences to Doug’s family,

Doug was a huge part of my youth and is a huge part of the person I am today, Doug has been a guardian, mentor, role model, and much more to me.

He helped me through a very tough time in my life and always believed in me, especially when I didn’t, he helped me figure out who I am and kept me on the right path when I easily could have taken a bad one, for that I’ll always be grateful.

He patiently thought me how to fish and a kept me entertained with his jokes and pranks while doing so, I’ll never forget any of those moments.

Heartbreaking to learn of the sudden passing of Doug, a family friend of 20 years. He always had a smile upon his face, a kind and gentle man, remembered for his unique sense of humour. Especially the cheesy Christmas-cracker style jokes that never failed to brighten the mood, make us smile or chuckle, sometimes laugh out loud. These type of jokes became warmly and fondly known in our family as 'Doug-Jokes' - and always will be. When we remember him we will wear his cheeky smile. So sorry to lose you too soon. Goodnight and rest in peace dearest, Doug.

Doug was a work colleague first, he touched the hearts of everyone at the Secure Unit, with his wonderful attitude and his jokes along with his fold up bike. Doug soon became a friend and I have so many memories of him, all bring a smile.
Doug has now been promoted and Heaven will be the better for it. He will be missed by all and I can only be grateful for knowing such a beautiful soul.
