Sincere condolences to Dougie‘s family and friends.
I only got to know Dougie over the past 7-8 months when my Mum moved into Talbot Lodge. He always had a smile and his presence and company is missed there already.
Only learning of his great love and achievements in sport now but hope he’s doing everything he can ‘up there’ to keep our local and national cricket teams in silverware for years to come!

It was with deep sadness, I learned today, of the passing of Dougie Goodwin, from his Son Nigel.
Dougie came to Dundalk to work with me, in 1976, at the other Sport he Loved, Horseracing, and we remained Friends ever since, meeting often.
At that time we first met I was not aware of Dougie's prowess and pluckiness on the cricket ground. It was only when I heard other sporting customers, who knew about cricket, tease Dougie about his gameness and braveness, in the sport he loved - Cricket.
Dougie had Zero - EGO and a real Gentleman.
Rest In Peace, Good Friend.
