Don was our lovely neighbour for the last 10 years, a sweet gentle man, we will miss seeing him as he headed down to the Club or off to Dun Laoghaire. May he rest in peace.
I have happy memories of sailing with Don on Greylag of Arklow. Later we would see each other in the George from time to time,
On one occasion he and Adrien asked us down to for a stay in the lovely Guinness House they then occupied in Carlow. We were also occasional party guests in St Anne’s.
Our last meeting was in Killiney when permitted during lockdown, organised by Gillian Mollard.
Happy memories; a great innings.
Such a lovely caring Man. My Mam will truly miss seeing you every week. Condolences to your family. RIP Mr Mooney
I was always impressed, at gatherings Don greeted so many by name and with a smile .One very exceptional man
On behalf of our President, Chairman and Members we wish to send our condolences to our late stalwart Sapper. Mr D Mooney. His service and memories live on. Please pass on our sympathies to the wider Family Circle.
We are every were, Ubique.
We were very sorry to hear of dear Don's passing. We spent many happy occasions together in the Club in Dalkey. He was a loyal friend to my Dad, Jack Simpson. We will remember his warm and witty character. Our sincere condolences and love to his family.
The Royal British Legion generally and the Irish Metropolitan Branch in particular has learned with great sadness the death of Don just days short of his 100th birthday. We were all enriched by Don’s 77 years of Legion membership since his joining the Branch in 1946. He will be missed for his razor sharp wit and mischievous sense of humour while always promoting the best interests of the Legion.

We offer our most sincere condolences to Roisin, his grandsons and great grandchildren.

Chairman, Irish Metropolitan Branch,

A lovely man, a larger than life character and a loyal friend to my late father. I'm sure that Jack and the angels will have been waiting to greet him with smiles, a fat cigar and a pint of Guinness.
On behalf of all the members of Probus Marine based at the Royal St George Yacht Club, it is my sad task to convey our sincere condolences to Don's daughter and all his family. Don was a much loved member of our club of retirees who always brought a touch of joy and jollity to every meeting he attended. We were looking forward so much to celebrating his 100th birthday with him. He will be greatly missed by all his friends.
Very sorry to hear of Don's passing. He was a wonderful, caring friend to my late grandad and a truly lovable little divil! Always such fun.
Terribly sorry to hear of Don's passing. A friend of my grandad Jack Simpson, he felt like an extended part of the family. He will be greatly missed.

Had the privilege of meeting Don for the first time 15 years ago.
A real gentleman and a true character.
Dalkey is a poorer place without his presence, particularly in The Club.
RIP old warrior

Condolences Roisin on the death of your father Don. I had the privilege of knowing him through RBL Metropolitan Branch. He was a true soldier and gentleman and lived live to the full.
Gareth and family. I am so sorry to hear of your grandfather's passing. Please accept my sincere condolences on behalf of the O Neill family and your co-workers at Shanganagh Marble and Stone.
A firm friend and distant relative of my late father, I was privilaged to know Don . Always on the go and circulating in the club with his dimpled pint mug of beer . RIP he will be missed.
Don will be sorely missed; I feel so privileged to have known him.
As a stalwart member of the Royal St George YC it has always been a pleasure to have known and shared time and stories with Don. Since the smoking ban came in (recently, as he might put it) Don could be found on the balcony with a pint in one hand and a cigar in the other. The novelty of joining our only centenarian on the waterfront is now denied us. I don't think he would have wanted us to lament our loss but rather to rejoice in a life well spent.
will be sadly missed.
a true officer and a gentleman
sorry that I will be away for the service
our thoughts are with the extended family at this time
On behalf of the RAF Association European & Overseas Area, sincere condolences to family, friends and comrades.
I was honoured and privileged to have known Don and spent time in his company.
With respect and gratitude for his service.
Sleep noble warrior.
Sincere sympathy to the Mooney family family on the death of Don may he rest in peace a true gentleman.
I consider it a real privilege to have known Don for the past eight years and to have observed his great spirit, charm and mischievous sense of fun. His was a long life well lived. May he rest in peace
