Very sad to hear of the passing of Albert Keating. I was lucky enough to be a student of his in WIT and I have very fond memories of Albert’s lectures. A true legend and Master in his field. I met Albert soon after I had set up my Solicitor's practice in Waterford in 1981.He said a good lawyer needs at least three hearty meals a week for sustenance and invited me to dine with him at WRTC.That began a long friendship and our lunchtimes were interspersed with much joviality.In the evenings we would retire to Geoffs hostelry for a few half pints of milk!Albert gave me the beautiful Irish toast which we have long since adopted "Slainte mhaith agus na lagadh Dia do lamh" Albert was the brainchild for WRTC students' class action for voting rights (Quinn v Waterford Corpn Sup Ct).Having been rejected by electoral registrar and Circuit Court we appealed the case to the Supreme Court with Albert instructed as Junior Counsel.He took great pleasure in travelling up by train to Dublin with me and donning his Wig and Gown.By a unanimous decision of a full Court the students won their right to vote either in their student constituency or their home one as they were deemed ordinarily resident for both.Albert was an intellectual to his core.Sam Beckett,St Augustine and Jurist St Thos Aquinas were some of his favourite reads.He wrote a number of poetry annals and his trilogy of Probate books were a godsend to the Irish Legal profession.The award of Doctor of Literature was a beautiful accolade to a wonderful man.My sincere condolences to his loving family.bjc

A former Legal Studies pupil of the mid '80s at the Waterford Regional Technical College (WIT), I have great memories of attending Albert's Contract Law lectures. A giant of a man and proud that I had the opportunity to be in his company for two years. May He Rest In Peace.

He was funny, witty, wicked sense of humour and always had a kind word for people. Albert you're a legend and will be remembered fondly by all who knew you. Rest easy Albert.

Albert was a great lecturer and a gent with a wicked sense of humour.
Nearly 20 years since I was in WIT and he's one of the stand out memories I have.

Albert lectured me in Waterford both in this and last century. I always thoroughly enjoyed being in his class, he loved what he did and that was a joy to be around. It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt sympathy that I send my condolences to to all the Keating family, especially his beloved children on the death of Albert. I was with him for a last farewell the day before he died with Sarah, Eddie, George and our dear colleague Gráinne.
Albert stayed with me in Killotteran for a year in the early days of his tenure par excellence in WIT. We had our last lunch together with our dear colleagues Tony, Cyril and Gráinne in the Hook and Ladder. True to his character he iinsisted on paying the bill.
