He was so nice and kind to her. A gentleman.

I worked in St Vincent’s many years ago and always found Dr Heffernan to be such a dignified gentleman, kind, knowledgeable, gentle, shy, but full of care, empathy and concern for the patient. He treated everyone with dignity, kindness and patience. He was a shining example of a caring human being who just happened to be a doctor. I always came away from meeting him feeling better for having done so, and always the better of it.
As a patient he treated me with great skill and urgency, so for many reasons I say thank you Dr Heffernan and may you now rest in peace. Your work on earth is done. RIP.
