Dr. Bob Loughnane

My sincere sympathy to Dr Bob's wife and family on his sad passing. It was always a pleasure to meet him on the corridors, he greeted you with a big hello and a big smile. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Dr Bob was a wonderful teacher and a big reason why I got to where I am today. He had a rare talent for making leaving cert maths fun and doable. Condolences to his family and friends. Rest in Peace

I had the pleasure of having Dr Bob as a teacher msny times. First in the GMIT computer summer school. Then in Mill Strert during an honours maths refresher course (which I attribute to my C in honours maths). Finally in the Business School teaching Excel, during which he would tell students of his love of movies and some of his excel ideas. ONCE he said to the class 'I can show everyone your history, just give me your email address, there were no volunteers lol" so much energy, he truly lived.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. Bob. He was the best maths teacher ever and left a lasting impression on us all.
May God give you all strength at this time.

I was a student of Bob's in the late 80s. Thirty odd years later I can safely say that he left a lasting impression and influence on my career. At the end of class he would say "see you next week, same time, same channel". And we did. We looked forward to it. Always. RIP Bob.

Sincere sympathy to Dr Bobs wife and family on his sad passing. He taught me in recent years in GBS and he was a one of a kind, very special man. His unique way of teaching made learning fun and he made time for each student. We were very lucky to have had him.

I was genuinely sorry to hear of Dr. Bobs passing. He taught me in Mill Street on Friday nights in the 90’s and genuinely inspired my love of maths and my career. His enthusiasm and passion for the subject and his students is something I try to emulate in my own teaching career in ATU. I speak of him often, both in and outside of the classroom. Sincere condolences to his family and may he rest in peace.

I was saddened to hear of Dr. Bob's death. His maths. and computing sessions in GMIT and elsewhere in Galway were compelling as he taught with great enthusiasm. All his students declared that he was a brilliant teacher - what an accolade! They had his unfailing support. When Bob approached in the corridor, I was always delighted to stop and chat, since I knew I could rely on his infectious optimism. RIP

I remember him from Gmit and also millstreet. His enthusiasm and knowledge was amazing and inspiring. You'd hear him coming in the corridor explaining things to people. One in a million. May he rest in Peace.

Sorry to hear of the sad news about Dr. Bob. He was a fantastic lecturer with a great sense of humour and gave us an interest in Maths and Computing with his excitement and enthusiasm. Bob was the most intelligent, funny and inspiring person that taught me when I was his student in GMIT, I will miss him. My sincerest condolence to his family.

Dr Bob taught a computer science/math class in RTC/GMIT/ATU to me in the early nineties, passionate and wonderful way to look at problems and infuse passion and curiosity in his students and a brilliant wonderful man, may he shine brightly in the universe
