Belated condolences to all the Clune family on the death of Brendan. I was shocked and saddened earlier today when I heard that he had passed. We were classmates in CBC Cork for many years in the late 1960s/early 1970s where he was an inspiration to the rest of us.
Rest in peace Brendan.

We are deeply saddened to hear he passed away, he was our GP for a long long time, he will be missed
We are shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Brendan. During his time in Limerick, many years ago, Brendan did some locum duties for me. My patients commented about how very pleasant and competent a doctor he was. Our children, who were quite young at that time, were also very fond of him and called him “Uncle” Brendan ! He was truly a wonderful person.
Ní bheidh a leithéid arís ann. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Dr Clune, he was my family doctor for three generations a lovely gentleman,I am especially grateful to Dr Clune for visiting my grandfather in his home after work towards the end of life which brought him great comfort. Rest in peace.
Dr. Clune dispensed medical advice and practical good sense in equal measure. I still smile when I think of his suggested cure for insomnia - get an audio book from Rathmines library and listen to an account of the battle of the battle of Borodino. In 2007, I was pushing my infant daughter, Phedra in a pram up the Rathmines Road. The brakes on the pram jammed. The pram turned over and was flung out onto the Rathmines Road. Thankfully Phedra was strapped in and the lights were red so the pram was not hit by a car. Pheda was howling in a very distressed way. I was worried that she had sustained a head injury. Somehow, on autopilot, in a blind panic, I pushed the pram to the Belgrave Clinic. I was hardly through the doors of the Belgrave Clinic when Dr. Clune on hearing the baby's cries came rushing out of his consultation room and took matters in hand. He checked Phedra and pronounced her to be fine. His reassuring manner stopped her howling. Dr. Clune then said that I was more shocked that she was and that I needed a cup of tea. He made me a cup of tea. No cup of tea ever tasted finer. I will never forget the warmth of the cup of tea or Dr. Clune's warmth and kindness. Every time I pass the surgery I think of him with affection. He was not just a good doctor. He was a great doctor and an even greater human being. My sincere sympathy to his family on their loss. May he rest in peace.
I only just read about the sad death of Brendan.

Brendan was our family GP for many years; and he literally saved my daughter's life.

When Alice came out as Trans in 2016, Brendan was the first person we spoke with. He was gentle with her, wholly empathetic and most importantly, he believed her.

Alice is now a happy, beautiful 26 year old. Thank you Brendan.
