Dr. Brendan E. Murphy

Brendan was a good friend for over 40 years.We went on a few holidays together Skiing and Rugby Internationals and I always enjoyed his company. His compassion and kindness was very visible when he spoke about what he observed after the tragic Air India disaster. I sure those qualities were visible throughout his career. It was with great sadness that I learned off his passing and extend my condolences to Bríd, John, Kevin and extended family.

I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Brendan. I fist met him in the 80's when I was a Med student in UCC. He was a graduate at the time. He was always engaging, respectful and had a kind disposition. Though I never had the privilege of working alongside him, I can only imagine him to be a deeply caring person, giving time to his patients, while listening attentively. The testimonies that I have read all support my impression of him as a person and as a doctor. RIP Brendan and thank you. My sincere condolences to his partner and extended family.

Just heard the shockingly sad news of Brendans untimely passing last month.

I had the privilege to be a work colleague of his and was very saddened by the news. I recall Brendan as a devoted, talented and compassionate doctor with a calm and wise presence in the Mercy and who was much appreciated by patients and colleagues alike.

Condolences to Brendan's family. I was a colleague in Cobh, where Brendan was the linchpin of the service for many years. He will be remembered as an excellent doctor, always compassionate and respectful of his patients. He was a great colleague, who brought an aura of calm with him, alongside acute observation and incisive wit. He will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.

he was one of the best. caring always an ear to listen. let you express how your feeling. if brendan was not on duty one could feel somewhat lost we needed to reach out to him he was the vital cog. we should all remember brendan of what he was what he done for others. as i saw it he made huge sacrifices it was never going to be easy for him. to let go of our dark thoughts but amazingly he did he showed in life that one needs to reach out to people. but he done it in such away one cannot but have admiration for this man we should all pray to him that knew him you can see what he done for others brendan was unique we are better people having knowing him

when i came to cork in the early 80s brendan was the first dr i came upon he was truly remarkable he would listen to your problems you knew he was taking note i dont think he had qualified at the time. he was unreal as he took in everything this was never easy on any person i wondered how he was able to let go it showed such a caring person he done this for so may others. not anyone in his profession would take this on he left me in no doubt only for brendan i would not be here today no doubt he moved on from then but we can offer much praise and never to be forgotten totally selfless when visiting him you were his interest i never came across a dr quite like him he was in a very tough profession. but masterted all by being there for his patient he is one man that has passed on but have no doubt he deserves to be at peace he done so much for everyone when in a dark area in there life as i see all that knew him want to see him in a lovely place he deserves it because he more than earned it we all wish brendan rip he was so humble with the work he done .
