My condolences to all of the Bruce family. I did not know Chris for very long, but as an IET volunteer like Chris I was always touched by his kindness, sensitivity and encouragement when dealing with aspiring engineers and IET staff. A true gentleman who will be greatly missed.
Dear Oonagh, so very sorry to hear of the death of your Chris. Condolences to all his family.
Heart felt condolences to Chris' children, grandchildren and partner.
The passing of Chris is a most sad occasion. Chris was a true gentleman and it was always a pleasure to meet and work with him. He was enormously generous with his time to all aspects of education. His long service to the IEE / IET has few comparators.
I hope that his family will be supported by the especially high regard he was held to by his colleagues and friends.

Chris was an active, enthusiastic and very supportive member of the IET History of Technology Executive Committee. His wise counsel will be missed by his colleagues and on behalf of the Committee I offer sincere condolences to his family and friends.
Chris was a gentleman and a brilliant engineer. My connection with him was doing interviews for the IET, where he had that rare ability to put people at their ease with his manner and a comment to break the ice with nervous colleagues. He was an excellent mentor to me when I started doing interviews, though he probably did not know it. He set a very high standard and example to follow. He will be greatly missed in the Profession and I pass my condolences to his family and friends.

The passing of Chris is the passing of an era that started at Kevin Street and later progressed to the IET. He was a friend, a professional colleague and a general 'good guy'. I will miss him greatly. My sympathies to you all.
Sincere sympathy to all the Bruce family on The death of Chris
Chris was a great gentleman, a fantastic volunteer for the IET, and a great travel companion. We never had a holiday together, as we always worked (despite the comments to the contrary!), giving training, helping with advice, interviewing, but every moment with Chris felt like fun! As well as being a huge influence on the IET's work in China, Chris and I also spent a very arduous week in Mauritius, working for the Board of Engineers in Mauritius, talking to their engineers and training them in competence assessment and interview techniques. In true consultancy fashion, we wrote out the day's lesson plans over breakfast!! Chris and I discovered we were both Alumni of Middlesex University (albeit in its previous guises) and this helped us bond in those tricky moments in far-off climes!! A trip to the Great Wall of China coincided with rain of biblical proportions, such that we could only see a few metres in front of us at any time - but Chris took it well using his stick/umbrella to navigate around and dissuade any contact with the various vendors. Rest in Peace, my friend Chris, and enjoy a decent Malbec wherever you go!
Condolences to Victoia, Jonathon and Giles and Chris's beloved grandchildren. To his sister Margaret and brother Ian, his sister-in-law Novelli and brothers-in-laws Dermot and David, sending my codolences also. Missing this wonderful gentle sensitive man who was so important to me and helped through a difficult part of my life. Farewell my dear loving friend.
Sincere condolences to the Bruce family on the loss of Christopher. From Gareth Eklof, an old school friend of Jonathan.
Deepest sympathies to the Bruce family.
Chris was a scholar, a gent and an exceptional character who possessed the warmest of spirit and demonstrated a true kindness to others. He will be missed greatly by myself and anyone else who had the privilege to have met and befriended him at the IET.
May he rest in peace.

My deepest sympathies to the the Bruce family. I had the great pleasure of working alongside Chris in DIT over many years and it was a pleasure. He was most kind, considerate and full of good advice. He will be missed by all who knew him.
I met Chris during my volunteering activities with the IET. Chris was very courteous and kind and always happy to help. His recent award of Honorary Fellowship of the Institution of Engineering and Technology is a fitting tribute to a man of such extraordinary talent. I shall miss him. Please accept my deepest condolences at this very sad time.
Chris and I knew each other from our volunteer roles at the IET here in London. We also had Dublin in common as I am a graduate of TCD and we would reminisce about TCD and Kevin street. Chris knew Paul Fannin who was one of my lecturers at TCD and he also knew Sean Swords, my Master's Tutor. When we ended up talking about Dublin I always reminded him that he lived in the posh part of Dublin Along with Bono, U2 and a few other socialites. ( I grew up in Clondalkin.) He kept telling me he lived further up the road and further away from the beach front. I remember the Registration group meeting he attended from his clinic room. When he told me he was in the Blackrock Clinic I told him I would expect nothing less for someone from the posh part. NO nuns looking after him!
A gentleman, true friend and colleague and always happy to help with anything.

As a former colleague of Chris at DIT my memories of him are of a kind, warm man who was a pleasure to work with in the School of Electronic and Communications Engineering. Indeed, it was Chris who advised me at the time to apply for full membership of the IET and the subsequent Chartered Engineer status. He will be sadly missed; and my thoughts and prayers are with you, his family, at this very sad time.
Victoria, Jonathan, Giles, Oonagh and extend family, I want to pass on my deepest condolences and sympathies at this time. Chris will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him and those who where blessed by his inspiration and guidance. He will be forever remembered our hearts.
My deepest sympathy to all the family on the death of Chris. I knew Chris for many years and spent many mornings meeting up for coffee and chat. I am so sorry Covid changed that habit and they were always very enjoyable.
As a fellow volunteer at the IET, I would like to add my own thanks for the great friendship and kindness he has shown not just me but his many volunteer friends. We had some really good times together and always enjoyed his comradeship and good humour.
We will all sadly miss him.

My deepest condolences to Chris' family and friends. I knew him well when he was a member of the Quality Assurance Committee at the Institution of Engineering and Technology and will remember him as a lovely, interesting and humorous man, who was very knowledgeable and good company.
Victoria, Jonathan and Giles, we were so sorry to read of your Dad’s death this morning. He and your Mum were lovely neighbours back in the day, and we so regret that COVID made it impossible to be in contact with him in the last couple of years. Our thoughts and sympathies are with you all and the wider family.
Sending my warmest thoughts and deepest sympathy to Chris' family and friends.
I had the pleasure of working with Chris at the IET, and always appreciated his warm guidance and over time, his friendship.
A particularly memorable time was November 2019 when we travelled to Limerick together for a work related event...lots of story telling and anecdotes made the car journey and the entire trip thoroughly enjoyable, with some lovely memories made.
Chris will be sorely missed by us all.

Dear Victoria, Jonathan, Giles, and all the family,
I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss. You did a wonderful thing surrounding your father with love during his final illness. I'm sure he appreciated that very much. I'll remember Chris as a warm, fun-loving person who was very proud of his family and full of enthusiasm for life. He and your mother always provided a great welcome and every encounter with them both ended with a smile. Wishing you comfort in these difficult days.
