Dr. David Noel McAuliffe

Noel and I met when we were both training to be pathologists at the University of Toronto. This was in the early to mid 1980s, and we got to know each other well during that time. I last saw him a number of years later, when we were testifying in court as expert witnesses for opposite sides of a criminal case. While our paths didn't cross after that, I followed his long career as a high-profile forensic pathologist with much interest and great respect. He had a delightful sense of humour and a friendly, easy-going, down-to-earth manner. Not to like him immensely would be quite impossible! I am shocked by his passing and so wish to extend my sincere but inadequate condolences to his family.

I have many happy memories of wonderful summers spent to Ballytrasna in the mid 1970s. Also remembering, at this time, his wonderful Mam and Dad - Betty and Tom. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

Jackie and Anne, Tom and Sally, we were very sorry to hear of Noel's passing and wish to offer our condolences to you, to Noel's family in Toronto and to the extended McAuliffe family in Canada and Ireland.

We have many fond memories of enjoying Noel's company on his regular trips to Ballytrasna and of the good humour, stories and fun that were found wherever Noel was. He will be remembered not only for the valuable scientific work he did over the years, but also for his friendship to so many, his warm personality and for being a much loved uncle to his nieces and nephews. May Noel rest in peace.

I worked with Noel for several years at the OCC/OFPS where I enjoyed his hilarious sense of humour and his unique ability to tell a story that kept his listeners rapt. Truly, a wonderful guy in too many ways to mention and one who will be greatly missed. It was my pleasure and privilege to have known him.

So sorry to hear of Noel's passing. Always kind, friendly and full of entertaining stories on his trips home to Ireland. Sincere condolences to the McAuliffe family. May he rest in peace

Many fond memories with the Mcauliffe brothers and sisters growing up in Cabbagetown. I remember I interviewed Dr. Mcauliffe for a middle school assignment. He generously answered my 12 year old brain's questions. I remember him as kind, soft spoken father to a brood of kids. May he rest in peace, and condolences to Frank, Raymond, Jennifer, Emma and David.
