I first had the honour to work with him in 1981. Colum was a superb anaesthetist, renowned by all. He was affectionately known as the 'Brez' to trainees of my vintage. Trainees felt ‘minded’ by him. His wit was razor sharp – a joy to work with and be taught by. He was a true legend. His legacy lives on.
