Sincere condolences to Finbar's family, may he rest in peace.

Thanks to Finbar, the history and ancestry of the O Mahonys has been immeasurably strengthened. We have lost a great practical scholar but his scholarship and connections live on. Through his work, I realise he and I are probably seventh cousins, and I hope to confirm that relationship in the future in his memory.

So very, very sorry to hear this news. We chatted many times on Facebook about genealogy and politics, sometimes we agreed, sometimes we didn’t, but we always enjoyed the exchange.
