Dr Gay Corr was a giant man in Irish higher education, a pioneer whose drive and vision touched the lives of so many young people in the west of Ireland over thirty years. The legacy he leaves continues to be felt nationally and internationally.

I was a part-time student at RTC on Dr Corr's watch later 1970s - early 1980s. There was a wonderful atmosphere there.

I extend my sincerest sympathy to Gay’s wife & family & wider family. I was fortunate to meet Gay when I transferred from Carlow RTC to Athlone in 1971 to pursue my studies in chemistry. He was a very good teacher of organic chemistry. He was probably the most affable and relaxed dept head I ever encountered in 3rd level. A gentleman in every aspect. RIP Gay.
