Dear Bill,
it was a great shock to hear that Jacinta has passed away. I was a close colleague of her, the two only virologists in the office and we were among the three first BEST examiners in the office.
I will also remember her as an enthousiastic SUEPO member.
My condolences and lots of courage.

Dear Bill,
It is with great surprise and great sadness that I learnt that Jacinta Skelly has passed away. I send you and your family my sincere condolences.
I worked with Jacinta in the Staff Representation and the Union of the EPO. She was strongly committed to the cause of the staff and was never tired to stand up for her values and the interests of the people she had to defend. Even after her retirement, she maintained her commitment by supporting the Pensioners Association of the EPO in their legal actions to defend their rights. She will always be missed by us.

Dear family and friends of Jacinta, it is with great sadness I read Jacinta has passed away. She was SOMETHING, a strong believer in fairness. She played a major role in the establishing of the Occupational Health at EPO - we all owe her a BIG thank for that!
She was in my interview when applying for the post of OH nurse at EPO - ever since then I could always count on her support - I am very grateful for that.
My deepest sympathies, Anne

Dear Relatives of Jacinta Shelly,
It is with very sad feelings that I present you my sincerest condolences for the death of Jacinta. Jacinta stood at the cradle of the EPO Medical Service. I worked with her very intensely to create this service, now called EPO Occupational Health Service. Although not always easy, she came often with brilliant ideas in this respect. Without her I would never have become the first EPO Medical Advisor. I will always remember her. Let her rest in peace.

Dear Bill, so sorry to hear of Jacinta´s passing. She and I shared an office during my year at The Hague, and for several years after that we kept in touch. She was a lively and engaged person and a highly competent scientist. I fondly remember many a singsong at your house, with you playing the piano and the two of us singing. All the best, thinking of you at this difficult time.

Jacinta was a fantastic colleague who supported dozens of others out of generosity, a true unionist committed to the common good of the Community. I will never forget her and her iron character but pure soul. May she rest in peace. With love Laurent
Jacinta was an outstanding person with a humble personality. I am grateful for all the work she conducted on behalf of her former colleagues. She was engaged, analytical, helpful with much empathy. Her laughter was wonderful. My sincere condolences to her family and friends.
Jacinta was a remarkable woman. Her formidable intellect was used only for good purpose, and she showed great courage and leadership in working to protect the right to life of both mother and child. She will be missed. It was lovely to see the strong cousinship and the fond memories of a special lady being shared at her funeral mass. Ar dheis lámh Dé go raibh a hanam uasal.
I’m so glad that in July Jacinta was able to experience a sense of connectedness with her classmates from 6th year in Our Lady’s School, 1964. We came together just in time a few weeks ago, and we will continue to remember her at future reunions. My abiding memory of her is that she “wore her learning lightly”. So lightly that when she asked Miss Kelly (science teacher) questions which seemed like it might stump her, it wasn’t that Jacinta was “being clever” – she really did want to know, and was puzzled about an inconsistency she’d noticed. Mostly, I had no idea what Jacinta was talking about and wondered if she was just being cheeky. As the brainiest girl in class she was neither a show-off nor a swot, and shared our sense of humour. Clearly an Honours student, I seem to remember that there was talk about some like Jacinta going across the road to have classes with Terenure College Honours boys. Did I make that up? I can’t imagine anything more scary for 15-going on-16 year-old girls. I think now that we were more like pre-teens than teens; really innocent. Thanks for the memories, Jacinta. Much love
On behalf of the Aontú Roger Casement Cumann in Dún Laoghaire, of which Jacinta was an active and valued member, I wish to express my deepest condolences to her family at this difficult time. Jacinta will be remembered for her dedication to the right to life for all and will be deeply missed by all of us. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis.
I knew Jacinta at UCD back in the 60's. She was such a joyful person and always exciting to listen to. We kept in touch over the decades. I and the rest of the graduating 1969 graduating class will miss her dearly.
Rest in peace Jacinta.
John
