So sorry to learn of Jimmy's passing. I am an Irish Cancer Society volunteer, and drove Jimmy to and from several hospital appointments. I enjoyed his company, and admired his courage and stoicism. My condolences to his family, may he rest in peace.

Only ever knew Dr Hanrahan as a GP in Padua surgery and can honestly say that he was one of the nicest, caring and insightful people that I have ever met. He always went one step further, could always see the alternatives and never accepted current or orthodox solutions. I will be forever grateful to him. Hope the knowledge that he was so loved bring solace to all those that loved him.

Goodbye to an unsung hero of great natural kindness and simplicity. Jimmy, you fought a good fight to stay as long as you could for your immediate family as well as for your and my grand daughters Amélie and Rosa and their devoted mum, my very own daughter: Chloé Espitalier Noel.

We are so sad to hear of the sad loss of your lovely Dr Hanrahan. We met him during his time as GP in Bishopstown. To us, he was always so gentle, kind, caring and unassuming. We held him in very high esteem.
Several years later, Dr Hanrahan contacted us when we lost our son. It was so unexpected and so thoughtful of him and a true measure of the man. It meant so much to us at such a difficult time. I met Jimmy only recently, though I knew only good of him from what Rory told me. My experience of him echoed what is expressed here by so many who mourn him from many periods in his life. He was warm, kind, hospitable, generous, intelligent and astonishingly tolerant of the foibles of others, about whom he was curious, charitable and fair-minded. His relationship with Mags was vibrant and loving. Being with them was fun, stimulating and life-enhancing. I send my deep sympathy to Mags, Rory and Colin.
