Condolences to Jane’s family on her passing. I knew her from our mutual interest in genealogy and some discussions I had with her on Facebook. Very sorry to hear of her passing. RIP Dr Jane.

I’m only hearing of Jane’s passing today. I admired her spirit and dedication to Genealogy.. We spoke only a few times on the phone but I had hoped that I’d meet her one day. I really hope you are at peace now Jane. x

Just heard of the passing of Jane today. I got to know her through our mutual involvement of the FB group, I HAVE HEMOCHROMATOSIS. Jane was an active member of the group and was always willing to help people who have just found out they had the condition. I also had many conversations with her, about various graveyards around the country.. .. I found her to be a lovely person and my sympathies go to her family. May Jane rest in peace.

Dear Sínead, Shane & Kate,
Your mum Jane was such an amazing lady. Myself and my brothers & sister remember with fondness how kind and inclusive she was to us while we were growing up. Her kitchen back door was never locked and we were always welcome to just come and go. She took us on many little excursions and had a knack of turning even the most mundane shopping trip into an exciting adventure! I will never forget the lifts to school in the orange Morris Minor where we all piled in like sardines! Jane was unique , I hope she knew how special she was.

I am so incredibly sorry to hear of your loss. Some of my best childhood memories include you guys and your wonderful Mum. She was so kind and caring and treated us Mulvany clan like her own. We were always included on all the great adventures she would take you on. She introduced me to Dunkin’ doughnuts in UCD and instant noodles after school. I will always remember her warm smile, the time she gave to me and my siblings and her big heart.

I had the great honour of been asked to conduct Jane's Humanist ceremony, and was so disappointed that I was not available on the date chosen.

I only met her once, at the wedding of her daughter, Sinead, back in 2013. I was told that Jane loved the ceremony I performed for Sinead and Conor. I was so delighted to hear that.

My deepest condolences to all the family, at this sad time, and into the future. Dr Jane Lyons was an amazing woman of great knowledge and talent in what she did.

My memories are seeing a warm smile,soft words and loving demeanour.She will be missed but will live on in all the minds of those who had the privilege of knowing her.May your hearth and soul find peace and confort .

Sending condolences to Dr. Lyons’ family. While I never had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Lyons, as I live in the United States, she graciously helped me search for genealogical information about my Bergin ancestors. Dr. Lyons also provided me with important information about hereditary hemochromatosis. Her teachings were invaluable and she will be missed.

I'm so lucky to have the memories I do have with all the family and so so much joy and laughter with Jane. She saved me from an accidental early viking burial! My heart is with you Sinead, Kate and Shane xxx so much love to you all xxx
