Sending condolences to the whole family circle on this enormous loss - Joan was an amazing person to get to know in these recent years in Christ Church Sandymount. An honour to have been able to enjoy her company on Sunday mornings. She leaves a huge legacy.
So sorry to hear this sad news, indeed Joan was a wonderful lady, so bright, generous, and loved her books.

I’m truly sorry to hear she is no longer with us, but she has left a superb legacy and for those of us that were lucky to have known her, she will always be remembered as lady who could make you smile.
I have such great memories being up on Howth Rd with Mai and Joan. Doing a scavenger hunt throughout their house, being fascinated by all the souvenirs from around the world and playing in the immaculate garden.
Whenever I would visit Joan in Mt Tabor, she would always have newspaper clippings for me about the latest rugby match and she even had chocolate eggs for my kids! A thoughtful, generous and inspiring woman! Rest in Peace Joan.
Joan was a lovely lady and a pleasure to meet herself and Mai in Clontarf church on Sundays.
I have such fond memories of baking with Mai and Joan after school on Wednesdays with all of our ‘gredients’. While our goodies were baking, we would explore the garden, or I’d ’help’ with writing letters on the typewriter. May you Rest in Peace, Joan x
Joan was always a delight to encounter. I knew Joan from her days coming into the Ulster Bank,College Green. Professor Cocker used refer to her as his 'star pupil'. Rest in peace Joan.
My family met Joan and Mai on both sides of the Atlantic (Canada and Ireland) and always enjoyed being in their company. My Dad (Bill Livingstone) was Mai's first cousin. I have a wonderful memory of my Dad and 5 of us staying overnight with Joan and Mai on the last day of our holiday in Ireland in 1998. We had a wonderful dinner with many desserts, and somehow Joan and Mai found beds for all 6 of us. Joan, thank you for all the lovely times we spent with you.
Rest in Peace Joan, always happy memories for me of time spent in your house with Mai. The gong of the grandfather clock, watching the birds from the sitting room, the warmth of the conservatory, climbing the trees and exploring the garden you loved so much. We used to wait with excitement for the Funday Times to “appear” through the letterbox in Castle Avenue! Hearing the stories from the travel adventures you and Mai went on, I think probably inspired me in my own travel adventures. I hope you are happy and comfortable now, RIP
My heartfelt sympathy to all Joan”s loved ones. I had the privilege of getting to know Joan during my time working at Mount Tabor and we maintained our friendship after I finished working there. Joan was such an open minded woman, and had such wisdom, and experience of life to share, which she did with graciousness, and such modesty. Spending time with Joan was always enriching. I feel very grateful for her friendship. She lived such a full life and did so much good. I will miss our chats. At this time I also remember fondly her life long friend Mai . May they now both rest in peace.
