Louis was a larger than life character when we first met at UCD and debated together so many years ago.
We all grieve at his passing and have great memories of happy times in younger days.

My Mum's last child was a stillbirth daughter near Christmas 1979. I always remember her saying a midwife told her the consultant went into the church after the delivery of the dead baby and prayed.
It meant a lot to her as there was very little acknowlegement/bereavement care at that time.

To Betty and Louis’s beloved family I send my condolences and sympathies on the passing of Louis RIP.
Also sending thoughts and prayers to Mary and Kathleen.
My family had a long connection with the Courtney family through their wonderful mother Betty who was born in Skibbereen . May all their souls rest in peace

He delivered my children safely into this world in the 1970s and 1980s, and he also cared for me in 2004 before his retirement. We were very sorry to hear of Dr. Courtney’s passing. Forty-five years ago, he delivered us as triplets—something my family has always remembered with great gratitude.
Though we never knew him personally, his care and skill played a part in the very beginning of our lives. We will always be thankful for that.
