Sincere condolences to Maighreád’s family on her passing. She was a lovely lady. May she rest in peace.
Sending my sincere condolences to Michelle & Anne and all of Maighread's family and friends. May she rest in peace
Maighread was a person of great intellect and immense kindness. She earned two doctorates, one in Irish and one in History. Her contribution to the study of early modern Dublin - both city and county - was outstanding. As a researcher she was meticulous and generous, sharing her findings with colleagues. As a lecturer she made her topics interesting so she always had huge audiences. She took a personal interest in the staff at Dublin City Library & Archive. She encouraged Ray and I to visit La Rochelle and on her recommendation I bought a Jack Murphy storm proof coat to wear at rugby matches. Maighread was a most knowledgeable enthusiast for cricket in Ireland and on Saturday afternoons she and the late Andrew O’Brien had long and happy discussions about it. Ni bheith a leithead ann aris

We offer our sincere sympathy to Maighréad’s family on the occasion of her death.
Maighréad was a long-term member of our society whose dedicated research, publications and presentations have immeasurably enhanced our knowledge not only of Skerries but of the wider Fingal area. Maighréad was an ‘ideas’ person, whose interests included sport, the Irish language and of course, local history. We remember her willingness to share her knowledge and expertise and the help she so generously gave to her colleagues in the society and those undertaking research.
May Maighréad rest in peace. Her rich legacy will endure.
