Dr Mairéad Hannon
(née De Barra)

We only learned today (31 July) of the passing of Dr Hannon. She was doctor to my grandfather in the last years of his life, my mother and father, both of us, our three daughters and for a short while two grandchildren. She was a wonderful doctor, for whom no hour was too late. We will always remember when my mother was not well enough to answer the door, and forgot to leave the key out, that Dr Hannon would enter through the front window! We are so sorry to have missed her passing and funeral. May she rest in peace.

Dr Mairead was an important part of our family when my children were growing up in 70s and 80s. She was so kind and always had a smile and was always available for home visits. Her quick diagnosis saved many a situation and we have so much to be grateful to her for. She always arruved at our door with a smile. We were really blessed to have had her as our family doctor and she will never be forgotten by all of us. Rest in Peace.

I was very sad to hear of the passing of Dr Hannon and I wish to extend my deepest sympathy to her family. Myself and my family had been patient's of hers for over thirty years and to this day have never found a doctor like her. She was such an amazing doctor and was so intuitive. We will never forget her.

I’m so sorry to hear of Doctor Hannon’s passing. She was a wonderful Doctor to my Mum and Dad, my siblings and my children. She was kind, wise, careful, pragmatic and funny. I’m very grateful for the care she gave us - we loved her! I am very glad to have known her.

I am very sorry to hear the sad news of Dr Hannon's death and offer my deepest sympathy to her family. She was our family doctor since the 60's and looked after us with care, kindness, understanding, humour and a lovely non judgemental attitde. A great doctor, we were lucky to have her.

My deepest sympathy on the recent death of your mother, Mairéad. I regret that I was unable to attend the funeral arrangements as my mobility isn't good. Your mother and I had some great discussions in years gone by and we spoke either in English or Irish. She made lovely meals! She is sadly missed by everyone who knew her. Doctor Hannon was a wonderful doctor, a great and caring woman who served the community in Dalkey for so many years. She is remembered with great fondness and a deep respect for her kindness and generosity.

She combined a skilled, caring, no-nonsense approach with endless kindness and an incredible work ethic often involving daily house calls.
