My sincerest sympathy to all belonging to Martin and particularly to you Mike and Bernie and your family in Kerry and to Paula, Peter, Sioda, Sibeal and Sheila on the unexpected and tragic passing of Martin. I trust and pray that he is now enjoying the peace and the happiness of Heaven reunited with his parents Peadar and Mary and sister Anna and all other people belonging to him who have also passed away. I pray too that the Lord may continue to comfort all of you who are mourning for him.

May I just add.......only yesterday...16th Jan... a lady dropped fresh flowers at the surgery door where Dr Finnerty helped, advised and imparted his medical knowledge knowledge to patients. It was so heart-warming to see the love and respect that people had for such a kind man. So many who admired and respected him so much. Sadly misseed by so many.

Dear Finnerty family....its hard to believe a month has passed since the tragic night we lost our dear Dr. Finnerty....a man much admired, respected and cherished in our town. He is so sadly missed, his friendly presence- always greeting people whether patient or not. We are thinking of you all- your sad loss is so tragic especially at the time of year it occurred. No one knows the hour....truly sorry and hope that time will bring you solace and peace. We all miss Martin's presence so much...so for you his family it is a hard one....A tragic sad loss. Deepest sympathies.

I first knew him in UCG in the 1970s, and later he moved in next door to my family home in Cornmarket and became beloved neighbour and doctor to my mother, Bridie and my father, Jack. What a huge loss to Ballinrobe.

I remember Martin from times as junior doctors in Galway many years ago. He was a very jovial character, always a joy to run into. He was full of stories and I quote him still.
From the many reminisces here he became a much loved family doctor, no surprise to anybody who knew him. His passing is a tragic loss to his family and community. I offer my deepest condolences.

I can't find the words to express how utterly devastated we all are for you. Words seem so inadequate. How do you sum up the wonderful qualities Martin had, that connected him to so many, young and old, in our small town and beyond. Everywhere you go there is a palpable sense of loss. An immeasurable loss for you as a family. I trusted him beyond description.

An incredible doctor, an absolute gentleman who loved sharing stories that would make you laugh. A 15 minute appointment would turn into 45 and you'd leave feeling far better than you went in, before you even filled the prescription. We will miss him beyond words and will hold you all in our hearts and minds always as you try to pick up the pieces and carry on without him. Rest in peace Martin 🙏

I am deeply saddened and shocked to hear of Martin`s passing.
Martin and indeed his late sister,Anna,were truly wonderful people and
a pure delight to be in their company.

I first met Martin in Rosie O`Grady`s Bar and Restaurant in 1978 when I was working there and Martin was in to hear another great Athenry man,Christy O`Connor,who was a regular artist in Rosie`s at that time and a fabulous performer on stage. Sadly Christy is gone to his reward too.
We had good times in New York together and I will always remember Martin with a smiling face, a kind word and a hearthy laugh.

May they all rest in peace. Condolences to all Martin`s wife, family,relatives and good friends.
