I was so saddened to hear of Martin's passing. He was one of the smartest people I ever met. He was also incredibly generous of his time. Martin helped me on countless occasions with my academic studies. His contribution to the Peace Process and efforts to stop violent dissident republicanism will never be forgotten. Indeed, I suspect his discreet and secret efforts to engage with the republican movement saved countless lives. Sending my condolences to all his family, friends and colleagues.

A gentleman, who could truly say
"I have done this state some service"
May he rest in peace.

My sincere sympathy to all the family of Dr Martin Mansergh I'd dearly like to pay tribute to Martin for his contribution to the peace process and Good Friday Agreement. Also his support for the purchase by the State of the Commons 1848 War House, and his attendance at the 1848 memorial walk every year. I had a lovely conversation with him last July, and last year I was delighted to give him a lift back from the War House to his car in the Commons. Deepest sympathy to Liz and family on the death of Martin may he rest in peace. As a colleague and friend for all his years in Leinster house his
contribution to peace on this island can never be forgotten.
My sincere condolences to Danny and the whole Mansergh family on this terrible news. My thoughts are with you during this very difficult time.
My deepest condolences to Liz, Fiona, Lucy, Danny, Alice and Harriet on the sad passing of Martin. During the time I worked alongside him, Martin displayed what it was to be a true public servant, with no agenda other than to do right by Ireland and its people. He most certainly did that and his legacy continues to live on. Some saw him as an Academic or Politician, but I had the pleasure of seeing the kind, sincere man, who didn't look for praise or thanks. A cup of tea and a nice cake was thanks enough. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
Dear Alice.

My deepest condolences to Harriet, Alice and the Mansergh family on the sudden passing of your beloved dad. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal.
Sincere sympathy to Liz, Fiona, Lucy, Danny, Alice and Harriet, on the sad and sudden passing of your beloved Martin. Our paths first crossed at a Transport Conference in Q. U. B. In the early eighties where I was giving a paper on the shortcomings of our road network, and I recall Martin’s challenging of points I was making. Even then his interest in North South matters was very evident. His collaboration on behalf of successive Fianna Fáil Taoisigh which led to the Belfast Agreement is a legacy well and deservedly documented in history. Our paths again crossed when we served as members of the Parliamentary Party for a decade. A gentleman, a scholar with a fine intellect, totally unassuming and understated, Martin possessed these admirable attributes which are rare enough in the political profession. It was an honour to have known you Martin. R. I. P.
Tabhair suaimhneas síoraí dó, a Thiarna.
Very engaging man. We had the pleasure to meet him when he visited Garinish Island here in Glengarriff during his tenure as Minister for the OPW. He was very appreciative that there was a lot of works to be done on the island and he certainly progressed them in his time in office. A very engaging man with a great appreciation of all aspects of culture. RIP

Sincere condolences Alice, Harriet and all the Mansergh family on the loss of Martin
To Liz, Fiona, Lucy, Danny, Alice and Harriet and the extended Mansergh family, sincerest condolences on Martin's passing and may he rest in peace.

Martin was an outstanding person, with a superb intellect and amiable personality. He was a valued and much loved member of the Royal Irish Academy, playing an important role in our North South Committee and through his attendance at many Academy meetings and events. I was so honoured to nominate him in 2017 for an Honorary Doctorate in the National University of Ireland and fondly remember that day. We met only recently (September) in Belfast as we held an Academy Council meeting there and he was in great form as ever.

Martin will be sorely missed, but what a legacy he has left behind.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
Dear Fiona,

Our sincere condolences to Martin's family, friends and colleagues. We were privileged to know Martin as a user of our collections who became a great friend of UCD Archives. We last saw him at the final event of the Archiving Conflict and Resolution Workshop at Hillsborough Castle in June. He was engaged and informative as always, and full of great stories at the reception after the event. We will miss him.
To Fiona and family. My sincere condolences on your loss. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anam
