Matt had a life well lived and did Bantry and it’s people a wonderful service. I’m sorry for your loss but know Ann and all Matt’s family and relatives share wonderful memories of him. May he rest in peace by Bantry Bay.

I am so shocked to hear your sad news at the loss of Matt. I have many great times we shared together with Derry O'Sullivan at school before I went to England for RGN & RPN nurse training. Matt is remembered with great fondness by those who knew him. He really cared, professionally and personally, for people and he appealed to people across the various generations and settings. He valued people as individuals and as part of a wider community.
Matt was exceptionally good humoured and bright in his observations and interactions. He valued the importance of memory and was unflappably courteous in how he cared for and about people.
Many of Matt's strengths were 'old school' in their values but he always looked towards a future offering progress and development.
We remember Matt as a particularly good doctor and as a very kind and caring person.
