He was very involved in our Club in the early years with former members Bill Wallace and Jerome Bernard, who have long since passed on. They all enjoyed many days sport together and hopefully are now re-united. Rest in peace Dr Maurice.

My time in Wilton motors where I first met him was made more special by becoming a friend to him and his late wife. To Keith, Elaine and Valerie, I first met Maurice in his role as Consultant of Radiation Oncology at Cork University Hospital when I joined the Aid Cancer Treatment Committee [ACT] in CUH as Treasurer in 1986 until 1992. Maurice and his colleagues were central to the fundraising efforts, he never took no for an answer, canvassed politicians widely to get the best deal for CUH and while I often saw him frustrated, his ability to see the bigger picture was crucial for the fundraising efforts. He was the face of ACT and was always happy to meet and visit fundraisers when they handed over the fruits of their efforts.
