I was very sorry to hear about Michael's passing. He was a wonderful character and it was always a pleasure to meet him. He was so entertaining and a wealth of knowledge. It is a sad time for his family and my condolences to you all. It was an honour to have had Michael as a Medical colleague. May he rest in peace.

So sorry to learn of Michael’s passing.. He was a great doctor, kind, generous with his time and always professional. As the father of daughters we shared mutual moments of humour Re their mischief and fun.
He was much loved and respected. The Lord will be good to him.

I attended his surgery only once and found him to be a good man a man of faith who looked on the bright side of life. I left his surgery much happier than when I entered it. Very sad to hear about the passing of Dr Michael Salter. He was a very kind doctor and great neighbour to our family here in Seatown Place many years ago. Late night visits to Nicholas and Ellen when they were very young and needed a doctor I can recall. A unique man who loved nature and who my late wife Clodagh was very fond of. Thinking of you Ann and family at this time.

Very sorry to note Dr. Salter's death - a good & kindly GP in Dundalk.

Deepest condolences to the Salter family at the passing of Dr Salter.
He was my GP from the day I was born till his retirement.
I will never forget him as he changed my life.
I was a very sickly boy with bad asthma.
Doctor Salter prescripted suitable medication. He also, and this is how good a doctor he was and how he changed my life, advised my parents to stop wrapping me in cotton wool and to get me involved in sport to strengthen my lungs.
In this advice, he was going against the prescribed wisdom of the time, thankfully.
I never looked back.
I got stronger and stronger.
Found lifelong passions in Gaelic football and running and made lifelong friends.
My asthma after six months of sports was managed by only one inhaler.
I also remember on a number of occasions my parents having to take me to Dr Salter's family home in the middle of the night as I was very sick.
Mrs Salter would open the door and Dr Salter would look after me.
I remember him as a great doctor and a very intelligent, funny, kind man.

I remember your Dad a welcoming man with a cheery outlook plus a a strong faith & a love of nature (butterflies if I remember). I appreciate now as a Dad that he was also very patient as taxiing us to the many discos & the like in his big Peugeot estate car.
